So I love this game and recently played the PJO game, but realized it was no longer up. I was just wondering if it was going to stay that way or if you planned to reupload it. Sorry to mention it on an entirely different game but I wasn't sure where else to ask.
I would also like to second this, hope that replying/asking under this comment is a good way of doing so. I am also curious if the PJO game was cancelled and was looking forwards to it so would like to know if it will continue. But I understand if it was stressful cause of the comments and stuff.
This was... incredible. IF is a direct hit or miss with me and despite only having one chapter so far I am horribly invested with this... It fits the vibe you're going for and is set up so beautifully, and I do hope you continue it, but don't stress yourself out too much, it takes a toll on the mind <3
This is brilliantly done so far. I love the feel of this IF, it's like a combination of Dexter and Hannibal (the tv series), which can only be a good thing because they were both awesome, yet it also has a freshness all its own. I'm smitten!
I truly hope you continue this story, cos it would be a terrible shame if it were to go unfinished. I'm really intrigued to see how you integrate romance in with the brutal/cold killer that is our MC (which, btw, I love!). I'm especially intrigued how it will work with Officer Kaufmann, seeing as it seems our interests lie very much in conflict. The seduction will likely be sublime. This relationship is what I'm most eager to check out!
And I have to mention that you have a fantastic writing voice - your style is clean and highly evocative, making the details of the story truly come alive in the reader's mind.
Although the Lightning Thief isn't really my jam (Just personal preference, I like 18+ stuff), this story and These Crimson Strings hit all the right notes with me! So good!
I’ve played (the older updates) this game and These Crimson Strings and I had comeback to add them to play later so I could make sure I play the new updates along with your new game and I read about your whole issues with your new IF.
I just wanted to start about how much that sucks. As a IF writer myself and a fanfic writer as well that is a big fear of mine. It’s honestly stupid that people make these accusations (That are quite frankly serious. Accusing someone of plagiarism is a big thing). I think it’s lovely you’re making the IF though. I bet once I read it, it’ll heal my inner child. Mostly cause Percy Jackson was a big childhood comfort that kept me from being alone, along with stuff like Harry Potter and Warrior Cats.
Just know you’re doing a great job and I doubt enough people tell you this. You barely know me but just know I’m proud of your work as a fellow writer :)
i saw chapter 1 and couldnt go further, i wanted to cryyyy, i love this sm and ur writing is amazing and my character being a murderous villain makes me giddy bc i love evil women
So, I'm not sure if you got into any trouble that ended in you and the other author <span class="NormalTextRun SCXW265944871 BCX0" <deleting<="" span="">deleting the other IF or if you just got stressed out from all the hate comments. I’m not usually one to comment since I like to maintain a neutral viewpoint for every argument. But let me get this straight-</span>
Main comments (I remember) on other IF:
-Plagiarizing the percyjackson book plus this is not fanfiction if you used wording in the exact format as Riordan. (Insert pic as proof that it was indeed a PJO fanfiction)
-This twine isn’t good wording it’s terrible and you were sooo lazy with the writing (Response: No, it's because they copied off Rick riordan) Oh yeah! Th<span class="NormalTextRun SCXW139904204 BCX0" <th<="" span="">at’swhy we're all upset, thanks.</span>
-You’re making money off this with Kofi donations! This is a disgrace to PJO and I'm a long-term fan
My POV:
-Yeah, plagiarism is disrespectful but it’s a fanfiction and they're<span class="NormalTextRun SCXW11207198 BCX0" <they’re<="" span=""> using the main plot possibly to build on to that for their own story inspired off of PJO</span>
-Everyone is saying it was lazy writing when the only times you used the writing from riordan was when it was necessary for plot building, from what I remember of the IF you didn’t just copy and paste you wrote your own story then added some sentences from PJO and even shortened them for your fanfiction.
-<span class="NormalTextRun SCXW199381555 BCX0" <there’s<="" span="">There's also a lot more work than all the angry mob is giving you guys credit for, and I understand that writing is difficult. They probably don’t understand since the hardest thing<span class="NormalTextRun SCXW199381555 BCX0" <they’ve<="" span=""> they've </span>accomplished was how to join a twitter mob.</span> I seriously cringed yesterday reading their comments
-The DEFINITION of plagiarism is "The practise of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.” Most commenters suggested you re-write the sentences used from PJO, but that’s actual plagiarism pretending that it was your og writing and idea, then just taking inspiration from the book. It was clearly fanfiction meant to show admiration towards Riordan’s writing and PJO. It was even labelled as “the lightning thief” so it was 100% not you takingriordan’s work and passing it off as your own.
-You authors weren’t making money off it and I'm not a legal expert, but it had at least 2-3 paragraphs from the book and since it’s a twine you could never guess what the canon PJO was if you’ve never read it. And no, donations absolutely do not count since it wasn’t pay to read.
-Later on, the plot might’ve changed too and would have even less of Riordan's writings since it was your own story that was a fanfiction off of PJO's problem and setting.
-People were not just “calling you out” they were harassing you authors for social points when the message that it was plagiarized was delivered multiple times.
-I don’t get why everyone was discouraging PJO fanfiction since they claimed they were such fans. “You don’t have to put one person down to praise another”; which was exactly what they were doing. But I've seen my share of most of the PJO fandom and they harass anyone in the name of Riordan, (the only time it was acceptable was probably the first two movies since Riordan said it wasn't what he wanted).
-<span class="NormalTextRun SCXW252342659 BCX0" <this="" upsets<="" span="">This upsets me because it reminds me of the angry twitter mob calling out people for taking inspiration from other cultures (often the victim's own) for their non-</span>american accessories and clothing. It’s similar because they harassed the victims who were not culture-appropriating. They were not acting disrespectfully with the clothes. And that mob was acting as if they were part of that culture, which most people from part of that culture were alright with random people respecting and showing admiration with their clothing and culture. As I believe what you were showing with riordan’s writing. But only riordan can say whether or not he found your IF disrespectful.
-In my opinion it was better to just use Riordan's writings instead of re-writing it. Since that would be diminishing riordan’s writings and actually plagiarizing since you’re claiming it as your own. (since im petty I hoped you’d add the book pages to each of riordan’s writings because it would’ve become obvious that those few sentences were not major plot points of canon PJO and the amount of writing you added yourselves would’ve been clear, but I'm not a legal expert so it might’ve gotten you in trouble.)
I'm also sorry for whatever happened but I understand that you deleted it, I hope you just decided to do what was best for you and the other author and not just respond out of fear of the PJO fandom. I hoped you did whatever was best to bring you peace of mind and not just to satisfy the miserable gremlins of the internet. I also like your and riordan's writings so it was pretty easy to find multiple viewpoints from both sides, which were a bit biased tbh. Not sure if you plan on further addressing the missing IF and sorry if I brought it up I didn't know how else to contact you.
hey there! can i just that i’m really thankful review 😭 i can’t lie and say that the comments in TLT weren’t giving me a headache but it’s the internet and you can’t please everyone, especially if they do not properly read the disclaimers.
the whole point was for the fanfiction to directly mirror PJO’s writing because it was a conversion of the books into a more interactive setting. i thought it’d be fun to add some of my own touches and characters to it but apparently, that was the entire reason for its downfall 😅
i’m rewriting it to add more of my own ideas and word the sentences and paragraphs better. i won’t be changing anything which was the essence of the PJO books because it is still a direct mirror of them and for now, my only concern is the legal aspects of it. although most of that would be solved by making it completely not-for-profit.
people who’d like to read it that way can do it. people who won’t like it shall ignore its existence. but suffice to say, it’s still being worked on and god forbid the plotline and sentences are exactly as they’re written in the books because, i don’t know, i clearly stated that it was supposed to be that way?
thank you again for this comment, i’m glad at least someone got the entire point of the TLT fanfiction.
For whatever it's worth, I agree completely with the previous commenter. I adore the series, and as I expressed in a comment back on the original page for the very first version, I was hella excited about it. While fanfiction is great, being able to actually 'play' the series with my own custom made protagonist? That was a mad cool idea, and everyone who got pissed about it, did so because they didn't even bother to read the disclaimer you made about how it was meant to be a interactive fanfic-ish take on the series, and was made entirely in appreciation for the original work. None of their criticism was valid, because all they wanted to do was kick up a fuss about the entire situation, just because they could do so. Their outrage was entirely selfish, and when boiled down was all simply done because they wanted drama. And you and the other author didn't at all deserve that.
Hey, I'm so sorry to hear you're being bombarded by people like that. I was only worried about the lifting of words directly from Riordan and what others might think of the Kofi (unlinked) in your description. I'm not sure who decided to go above and beyond to harass you, but I hope you're able to report them on Discord, here, and Tumblr. If you ever need anything, please feel free to reach out. You can find me @trailshome 0r @clamoribusrogamina -- I'm happy to listen to you vent or just shoot the shit or smth.
I've watched other authors get harassed and have been harassed myself. I don't know how much help I can be, but I'm always down to lend an ear to a fellow author. Wishing you the best and am excited for updates to your games. (I adore Moreau sm!!)
Sending you hugs and well wishes!! Don't let those posers get you down! They just want to start something to start something! <3
hey, I just wanted to say I really like your Lightning Thief interactive. I'm sorry you have to deal with all the people giving hate for it. I'm excited to see future chapters and hopefully the other books. while I love the books it is nice to be able to do your own character design and your interactive has done just that. I wish you the best of luck in the future. (Also, I'm sorry if you didn't want comments on it, I just wanted to give support for an amazing project)

Hi, any updates on the second chapter? This was such a lovely experience and I would love it if you continue working on this ☆
damn i really want this to be finished D: but their last update was this year
Chapter one is already AMAZING!!! Can't wait for the second. <3
Great writing! When is the Chapter 2?
Never probably.
Why?!
The atmosphere and themes go so hard. Can't wait for more!
